A 21-year-old man died following a skiing accident
A 21-year-old man died following a skiing accident on Cannon Mountain on Wednesday. Benjamin Bennett of Raymond was skiing with friends when he was reported missing at 2:15 p.m. after not being seen for 90 minutes. He was found dead by ski patrol first responders in the woods off the Upper Ravine trail. He apparently suffered “multiple system trauma” and was wearing a helmet when his body was discovered, a Cannon Mountain spokesperson said in a statement. He was an experienced skier, the spokesperson said. An obituary on legacy.com states that Bennett was a neuroscience student at University of New Hampshire. He is survived by his parents Norman and Cindy and 12 siblings. A fundraiser to assist with his funeral costs had already raised $15,000 as of Sunday. It was the second skier death in New Hampshire within a few days. A 15-year-old Gilford girl died in a skiing accident at Gunstock Mountain Resort on Jan. 16.
