A juvenile is facing a charge of domestic terrorism after a threat led to the closure of Lake Region Union High School

A juvenile is facing a charge of domestic terrorism after a threat led to the closure of Lake Region Union High School after authorities learned of the threat made via social media against the school and students.

Orleans County Sheriff Jennifer Harlow says the investigation into the threat was initiated Thursday evening by the school resource officer, a sheriff’s deputy. The investigation included school officials and additional law enforcement agencies.

“The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department and school officials take all reports of school threats seriously,” Harlow said.

The name of the juvenile has not been released. The juvenile is due to appear in Orleans County Family Court on Friday.

Harlow says the juvenile is charged with domestic terrorism and criminal threatening.

This is the third threat at Orleans County schools in the last two weeks.
