A man wanted by authorities in three different states has been charged in St. Johnsbury with misdemeanor domestic assault

A man wanted by authorities in three different states has been charged in St. Johnsbury with misdemeanor domestic assault. But there is information in court documents that could lead to other charges being filed against him. Chadd Knowles, 30, pleaded not guilty to the charge in Caledonia Superior Court on Monday and was released on conditions by Judge Justin Jiron. Knowles is accused of grabbing a 19-year-old woman and causing her pain in an apartment at 178 Eastern Ave. in St. Johnsbury around 11:30 p.m. on July 31.  However, court documents suggest that a non-consensual sex crime may also have occurred during the alleged incident. The alleged victim told police that Knowles had sex with her even though “he knew because of her disability she did not want to have sex with him”
