Vermont State Police fire investigators are trying to determine how a fire started at a sugarhouse

Vermont State Police fire investigators are trying to determine how a fire started at a sugarhouse along Rt. 58 in Irasburg on Tuesday.  Det. Sgt. Clark Lombardi reported that Irasburg firefighters were alerted to the fire at the sugarhouse on Rt. 58 in East Irasburg just before 5:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, the sugarhouse, owned by Armistice Ryan, 45, of Middlebury, was engulfed in flames. Irasburg Fire Chief Robin Beaton sought assistance from the Department of Public Safety Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit (FEIU) for assistance in determining the origin and cause of the fire. At this point in the investigation, no cause has been determined. The sugarhouse sustained extensive damage from fire, heat, and smoke.
