Officials on Monday confirmed that the cause of death for a Bethlehem man

Following an autopsy on Sunday, state and local fire officials on Monday confirmed that the cause of death for a Bethlehem man found in a house late Friday night was smoke inhalation.

The victim is identified as 53 year old James Duguay II, and the cause of death was accidental. The suspected cause of the fire is either cigarette smoking materials or candles in the general vicinity of the area where the body was found, said Bethlehem Fire Chief Jack Anderson, who received the confirmation from the New Hampshire Fire Marshal’s office on Monday afternoon. “The cause [of the fire] will be undetermined,” said Anderson. The two-alarm fire heavily damaged the 3457 Main St./ Route 302 home at about 10:30 p.m. Friday.
