Vermont State Police say icy conditions led to dangerous driving during Tuesday’s morning commute.  The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of the region for freezing rain through about 1 p.m. Multiple reports of car crashes, including a tractor-trailer that hit a patch of black ice on I-89 near Exit 8 in Montpelier and careened into ledges. Six other cars were involved in that crash but police say no one was hurt. The interstate was closed for about three hours. State police also reported accidents along Interstate 91 in southern Vermont. Back roads also turned into ice skating in some parts of Central Vermont.
