Littleton Community Center Awarded $500K Grant

The Littleton Community Center received a big boost from a newly awarded $500,000 grant, which the Select Board accepted at its meeting on Monday.

The board also adopted a resolution to protect into perpetuity Littleton’s recently restored 1931 antique fire engine.

Community Center

As the directors of the nonprofit community center secure some $2 million in funding to upgrade the main house and the annex, or carriage barn, out back, they have been awarded a $500,000 Community Development Block Grant

In December, a public hearing was held for the CDBG funding, which is federally funded and requires to the town to be the applicant on behalf of the community center.

The CDBG funding requires some matching funds from the community center.

“They have the matching funds, but are still trying to do some fundraising,” said Kerri Harrington, chair of the Select Board.

Major upgrades are occurring in the annex, which has been closed since 2011 because of structural and foundational issues that are now being remediated.
