The Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District presented a 2024 draft budget

The Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District presented a 2024 draft budget on Tuesday. The draft budget of $847,429 represents an increase of seven percent over the approved 2023 budget. According to NEKWMD, the increase is due primarily to the proposed addition of employer-sponsored health insurance. The proposed budget would increase the per capita rate (from $1.06 per person in 2023 to $1.16 in 2024) and district waste hauler surcharge (from $25.99 in 2023 to $26.75 in 2024). Other fees would remain unchanged. The draft budget will next go to a public hearing.
