North Country Hospital Emergency Department will be undergoing an expanded renovation

For the next six months, the North Country Hospital Emergency Department will be undergoing an expanded renovation.  The capital project give will much-needed patient care space to the current footprint by converting the ambulance bay into four additional patient rooms serving the department. The project is expected to be complete by April 2024. These rooms will also have the capability of converting to negative pressure, which means when opened, potentially contaminated air or other dangerous particles from inside the room will not flow outside into non-contaminated areas. Currently, during high-volume times, the hospital must house emergency room patients in the department’s hallway due to a lack of appropriate services in other parts of the community and state. department. During this time, there may be longer wait times in the emergency department.
