A beloved Danville restaurant is closing
A beloved Danville restaurant is closing. After 48 years, The Creamery Restaurant on Hill Street will have its final night of service on Sept. 7. Marion Cairns says it’s been a tough road since the coronavirus pandemic shuttered The Creamery doors for a handful of months in 2020. Since then, a lack of staff, high food costs and family health issues were among the reasons Carins decided to close the doors. “There’s just no help out there,” said Cairns. “It’s a different world; nobody wants to work. And the cost of food is outrageous.” Her husband had two open-heart surgeries this year. From the restaurant’s inception on July 24, 1976, Cairns has worked countless long days in the kitchen preparing to fill the menu demands of evening diners. For Cairns, it’s time to step away. Just two more weeks to celebrate Cairns and The Creamery.
