A homeless St. Johnsbury man was arrested Wednesday

A homeless St. Johnsbury man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly breaking into a home on Cross Road, violating court-ordered conditions of release, and failing to comply with the state’s Sex Offender Registry. State Police from the St. Johnsbury Barracks and deputies from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department responded to a 911 call at approximately 11:12 a.m. on February 12. The caller, Joan Paro, reported that a man was breaking windows to gain entry into the residence. When officers arrived, they found Anthony Heath, 33, in the kitchen eating a sandwich. An investigation determined that Heath had shattered a window in the front entry door using a farm milk jug to gain access. Further inquiries revealed that Heath violated multiple court-ordered conditions of release, including restrictions barring him from being at the Cross Road residence and engaging in violent behavior. Authorities also discovered that Heath was not in compliance with Vermont’s Sex Offender Registry requirements. Heath was taken into custody and is facing multiple charges, including burglary, 3 counts of violation of conditions of release, petit larceny, unlawful mischief, and failure to comply with sex offender reporting requirements.
