A local farmer continued a giving holiday tradition

A local farmer continued a giving holiday tradition by donating Christmas trees to Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) for distribution to people served by the organization. Identified only as “Bob,” the farmer seeking no recognition was joined by a team of volunteers recently for the delivery of 105 trees. According to Bob, he bought a property in St. J in the late 80s that had a small Christmas tree farm. He and a friend raised and sold Christmas trees as a hobby through 2001. After a hiatus from the effort, they began growing trees again in 2006. They began donating 30-100 trees to NEKCA and occasionally other local charities in 2010.  “We very much appreciate NEKCA’s efforts to distribute the trees to families in need at various locations in the Northeast Kingdom,” said Bob. Officials at NEKCA said they’re grateful for Bob’s generosity and the efforts of his team. For more information about NEKCA and their programs, please visit nekca vt.org.
