A Newport woman was arrested by Newport Police

A Newport woman was arrested by Newport Police on Wednesday after she reportedly assaulted a nurse at North Country Hospital. Kiana Badan, 27, faces charges of assault of protected professional and disorderly conduct unlawful trespass for alleged behavior at the hospital. Police were alerted to trouble at the hospital about 12:15 a.m. They were told that a woman was refusing to leave the hospital, was harassing other patients in the lobby, and had assaulted a nurse. Police responded and determined it was Badan who had committed the crimes. Chief Travis Bingham reported that Badan’s bad behavior came after being discharged from the Emergency Department after refusing treatment. Police took her into custody without incident. Badan was also wanted on warrants for failure to appear in court on both theft and drug charges, the chief stated. Badan was lodged at the Northern State Correctional Facility after failing to produce $200 bail. She was set to be arraigned on Wednesday at Orleans Superior Court.
