 Burlington authorities say the death of a driver who veered off the Beltline last month was due to drugs. It happened on September 3. Burlington Police say emergency crews responded to Valade Street after a report of a pickup that had driven into the woods from nearby Route 127. Responders found the body of Shawn Lawrence, 51, of Milton, inside. Authorities Tuesday said a final autopsy determined the cause of death as an “acute drug intoxication” and the manner of death an accident.
