Derby leaders and community members were joined by Sen. Peter Welch
Derby leaders and community members were joined by Sen. Peter Welch Tuesday to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Derby Park project. The project, years in the making, will convert acres of unused land into a new community outdoor park. The town of Derby’s basketball and tennis courts were built decades ago and in need repairs and upgrades. The town requested Community Projects Funding from then-Representative Welch in 2022 and received $517,750 in the funding. With this funding, Derby will convert acres of unused nearby land into a community park and recreation area. The project will include 4 pickleball courts, a tennis court and a basketball court along with walking paths, fitness stations, benches and more.
