Fatal I91 Crash in Rockingham Shuts Down Northbound Lanes for Six Hours

State Police officials confirmed one person was killed and three others were injured in a crash that left the northbound lanes of I-91 shut down for 6 hours Saturday.  Authorities say the crash involved two vehicles, a Hyundai minivan and a tractor trailer. It was reported at 9:43 a.m. near mile marker 33 northbound. Police say they responded to what was described as 10 or more vehicles having trouble, in the town of Rockingham. Two of the vehicles were involved in the fatal crash, with the rest of the vehicles involved in minor and non-life-threatening crashes. Investigators believe the driver of the Hyundai failed to stop in time due to icy roadway conditions, rear-ending a stationary tanker truck. One person in the minivan was killed, and a juvenile that was in the minivan was airlifted to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries. A second juvenile and adult that were also both in the minivan were taken via ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. We’re told the driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt. It happened just south of Exit 6 and caused the northbound lanes to be closed. State Police adds the roads were slick Saturday and led to other slide-offs in the area that were not related to the crash, and no other injuries were reported.
