SWANTON, Vt. (AP) — Vermont State Police have released the identity of a man found dead in a Swanton home on Wednesday and said they are investigating his death as a homicide.

Elijah Oliver, 22, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, died of a gunshot wound, police said Thursday.

Police said they were notified shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday that a man was dead inside a home. The preliminary investigation indicates that this was not a random act, police said.

Police are also continuing to investigate a suspicious death in Danby. The body of a man was found Thursday on the side of Danby Mountain Road. The victim appears to have been shot multiple times, police said.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious or out of the ordinary along Danby Mountain Road between early Wednesday morning and Thursday morning is asked to call the Rutland state police barracks or submit an anonymous tip online at http://vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
