One person is dead after a house fire in Colchester
One person is dead after a house fire in Colchester on Christmas morning. The Colchester fire chief says they believe the victim was the homeowner. The chief said around 3:45 a.m., they got a call from a neighbor about a house on fire on Mallets Bay Club Road. When crews arrived, they found at least half of the home on fire with the roof starting to cave in. They were reportedly able to put out a bulk of the fire within 20 minutes. Once the fire was put out, crews began cleaning up and searching for the homeowner. The body was located yesterday afternoon. Police say a dog also may have died in the fire.
