Rescue crews freed a man who got stuck in the mud on the bank of the Winooski River on Sunday. Burlington fire officials say crews responded to the call at about 11:30 a.m. for the man trapped in the mud on the bank of the Colchester side of the river. Colchester Fire Department, Colchester Technical Rescue and multiple Burlington crews found the man 500 yards downstream from the railroad bridge, partially in the water and unable to get out. Crews worked together to rescue the man, who was treated for minor injuries and then taken to the UVM Medical Center.
