Teresa Youngblut, 21, of Washington State, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Burlington
The Washington State woman who officials implicated in a Jan. 20 fatal shootout that killed a veteran U.S. Border Patrol Agent in Orleans County, provided law enforcement officials a recorded statement after the incident, a federal prosecutor said Friday. Teresa Youngblut, 21, of Washington State, pleaded not guilty in U.S. District Court in Burlington during her arraignment Friday afternoon on two felony assault charges. She denied the intentional use of a deadly weapon while forcibly assaulting, resisting, impeding and interfering with a federal Border Patrol Agent while he was performing his lawful duties on Jan. 20. The other not guilty plea was for a felony charge of knowingly brandishing and discharging a Glock 40-caliber pistol during “the forcible assault with a deadly weapon” — a crime of violence that she might face in federal court. Youngblut was treated for gunshots for five days.
