The fugitive arrested on Oct. 24 in East Ryegate

The fugitive arrested on Oct. 24 in East Ryegate, where authorities said he was injured after opening fire on U.S. deputy marshals, has been indicted by a federal grand jury on two counts of unlawful transport of firearms. The indictments against Douglas Reynolds, 36, stem from possession in Vermont when Reynolds, “while an unlawful user of controlled substances … knowingly possessed … 2 handguns, and a rifle, and ammunition.”  Bradford police say they discovered Reynolds slumped over in the driver’s seat next to a rifle on the passenger seat. He had also been sitting on a .22-caliber revolver and had a pistol on his person. Also found in Reynolds’ possession were suspected quantities of methamphetamine and heroin. At the time, he was charged with drug possession and DUI. On Oct. 25, a day after his arrest in East Ryegate, bail was denied, and Reynolds was remanded into custody on preventative detention. A final pre-trial conference is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Grafton Superior Court and a bail hearing for Nov. 19.
