The Lyndon Select Board issued an order for the surrender
The Lyndon Select Board issued an order for the surrender of a vicious dog on Monday. By a 5-0 vote, the board required Patrick Perkins of Little Egypt Rd. to hand over a pit bull named Luna. Town Attorney Dan McCabe will draft the order, which will include a deadline for surrender that is yet to be determined. If Perkins does not comply with the deadline, the dog will be seized. The Select Board acted after Perkins failed to comply with a previous order to vaccinate, license, and secure Luna by Dec. 2. According to neighbors, Luna has been involved in a series of increasingly violent incidents on Little Egypt Road over the past two years. “Mr. Perkins has made it clear that he’s chosen not to act, or assist us, to ensure public safety. So we need to act on this immediately,” Select Board Chair Chris Thompson said. Perkins did not attend Monday’s Select Board meeting. He has 30 days to appeal the board’s decision in superior court.
