The Caledonia County States Attorney’s Office has charged a young man with the shooting
The Caledonia County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a young man with the shooting of Christina Chatlos, 38, on Portland Streetin St. Johnsbury. Mohamed Said, 15, born in Maine, was the alleged shooter. He’s from Springfield, Massachusetts. His parents are from Somalia. He has been charged with felony 2nd-degree murder. Said is currently detained in the State of Massachusetts. Said is facing a possible sentence of 20 years to life in prison. According to the police report, at approximately 6:06pm police received a call from a witness, who said that she had seen what had happened. The witness, who was outside on her porch, described observing two black juveniles walking in the direction of the scene, she then heard a gunshot, then saw the two males return to the area of 223 Lafayette St. and interact with Nicholas Pinto. The witness said that she observed a dark-colored SUV pull into the parking lot of the school driveway. A few minutes later she heard a “Pow.” She Then said the two males separated from each other and ran off in different directions. She said one of the subjects ran from behind the school towards Portland Street. And the other male ran up the hill behind the school towards Lafayette Street. The witness said he could hear a male saying he was going to kill her (Christina Chatlos). The witness heard a couple of gunshots, and the witness said when he looked back, he saw the male put a gun to Chatlos.’ head. “They killed her.” Chatlos was found deceased at the scene. The medical examiner determined the cause of Chatlos’s death was a gunshot wound to the torso,
