Thomas Rooney was charged by the state

Thomas Rooney was charged by the state in September of 2022 with two felony charges including 1st degree aggravated assault and 1st degree aggravated assault with a weapon. Rooney, 33, pleaded not guilty to the charges brought by the Orleans State’s Attorney’s Office, which included a misdemeanor charge of interference with access to emergency services. Judge Lisa Warren released Rooney on conditions. Rooney was charged in 2022 for allegedly assaulting a woman in the house. Rooney was also charged in federal court in February of 2024 – along with Bryanna Rooney and Jakiy Tramaine Corey Keith – for conspiracy to distribute narcotics. But there was a missing person in February who was later found shot to death inside a large container on a sand bar in the Missisquoi River in the area of Big Falls. According to family members, the late Kayla Wright had been a frequent visitor to the Rooney’s house at 7021 Vermont Route 100 in Troy. Rooney faces a possible sentence on the domestic assault charge of 31 years in prison and $55,000 in fines.
