Newport City eclipse event organizers announced the communitys primary event will be held at Prouty Beach
Newport City eclipse event organizers announced the community’s primary event will be held at Prouty Beach campground. “We don’t know if we’re going to see 500 or 5000 visitors, but given the great weather forecast we expect a big crowd in Newport,” stated a release from Discover Newport. “Make sure you bring your snow/mud boots because of wet snow in the last 36 hours. Because of the snow, we’ve moved the program to Prouty Beach Campground, about a fifteen minute walk from our downtown, but you can also see the event from lots of places in Newport.” Organizers advised viewers to bring a chair, don’t park in a way that blocks emergency vehicles, support our local shops, and make plans to come back to Newport this summer. The viewing event will feature guest speaker William Vinton, educator from Northeast Kingdom Astronomy Foundation; live music by Kyle Chadburn; and free Glasses for the first 500 attendees.
