The superintendent of a Vermont prison has been put on leave
The superintendent of a Vermont prison has been put on leave following an allegation of misconduct. The Vermont Department of Corrections says Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility Superintendent Sharon Nykiel is on paid leave, which is standard practice, as the Department of Human Resources investigates. Officials say Assistant Superintendent Michael Dounetos will oversee operations at the Rutland prison until an interim superintendent is appointed. Corrections officials did not specify the nature of the misconduct allegation.
