Powers Park in Lyndonville could get a facelift.
Powers Park in Lyndonville could get a facelift. The nonprofit Village Improvement Society owns the park and plans to add a new playground, parking lot, and basketball court as well as move the existing pavilion. The estimated price tag for the three-phase plan is $2.8 million. The nonprofit’s Heather Tanner says it’s a critical resource for the hundreds of kids who use the park all summer. “This is where the kids go during the summer. It is a great hub for them to be here. Kingdom Trails is in the area, so we have been getting kids that have not been here before. On a good day there is always kids on this playground,” she said. And Lyndon Selectboard Chair Christian Thompson says it’s not just local kids that need it. “There are 10 or 12 towns that send kids to this program that happens in Lyndonville. We are kind of the hub for the summer program at Powers Park,” he said. The nonprofit hopes to start building the new playground next fall.
