A Montpelier man is in custody, and his parents are dead following a double homicide on Gallison Hill Road in the Capital City. The names of the two victims and their son believed to be about 30 years old, have not been released. Initial reports said the suspect in the Gallison Hill case made incriminating statements after reporting the incident to Montpelier Police. The bodies were found outside the home. The double homicide was at a private home on Gallison Hill Road, according to state police, who were asked to take the lead on the case.
Montpelier Police said officers, along with Montpelier Ambulance Service (MAS) were called to a residence at Gallison Hill Road for the report of a physical altercation.
First responding police officers located two people dead at the scene and detained one man, state police confirmed.
State and Montpelier Police said they believe there is no identified threat to the community, but did not say the basis for that belief.
The public is asked to avoid the area.
The investigation is in its preliminary stages and involves members of the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, detectives and uniform personnel from state police and the Vermont Crime Scene Search Team.
Investigators were expected to try to obtained one or more search warrants from a state judge before they can begin to comb the property and residence for evidence.
Following processing of the scene by the Crime Scene Search Team, the victims’ bodies will be brought to the office of Vermont’s Chief Medical Examiner in Burlington for autopsies to determine the cause and manner of death.
