The Planning Commission on Nov. 20 learned more about a program

LYNDON — The Planning Commission on Nov. 20 learned more about a program that could help improve Depot Street and surrounding areas. Gary Holloway, the Vermont Downtown Program manager, gave a half-hour presentation on the program and its benefits. Joining the Vermont Downtown Program would support Lyndon’s efforts to restore historic buildings, build housing, design walkable communities, and encourage economic development. It would also unlock tax credits and grant funding to support improvements. Lyndon already has the Lyndon Downtown Revitalization Corporation (LDRC) in place. The Downtown Program has already reaped benefits in St. Johnsbury, where downtown organization Discover St. Johnsbury has been instrumental in that town’s successful economic development efforts.
