Burke Property Owner Ordered to Comply with Junk Ordinance or Face Daily Fines
A property owner has been ordered to comply with the town of Burke’s junk & junk vehicle ordinance. In a letter dated April 10, Zoning Administrator Mike Harris directed Ryan Goodwin to comply with the ordinance within 30 days. Harris has been warning Goodwin about the growing amount of items on his property at 500 Route 5A since July 2022 including unregistered vehicles. Harris described the property as having “an incredible amount of stuff.” Goodwin has a 15 day window through April 25 to appeal the decision. Barring appeal, he faces fines of at least $100 per day, per item, if he does not comply. The municipal junk and junk vehicle ordinance was enacted on January 31, 2014 to force the cleanup of a significant number of problem properties.
