Parking Lot Operator Settles with Vermont Over Phony Citation Practices

A company that operates parking lots in the region has settled with the state of Vermont over issuing phony parking citations. The Vermont Attorney General’s Office says Maine-based Unified Parking Partners ticketed thousands of drivers’ cars, alleging that failure to pay would result in losing their license — something it cannot do — or impact their credit rating. The company operates 27 parking lots in the state. It agreed to pay the state $150,000 and change its misleading parking notices.
