A West Burke man allegedly damaged a state police cruiser

A West Burke man allegedly damaged a state police cruiser while he was being transported on suspicion of drunken driving Friday.  Police say Robert Maximov, 27, was stopped on Depot Street in Lyndon Saturday afternoon and arrested for drunken driving after several signs of impairment were observed and sobriety tests conducted. Maximov allegedly resisted arrest and caused significant damage to the doors and cage while in handcuffs in the back of the cruiser. He eventually broke into the trunk of the cruiser during transport and had to be transferred to a different cruiser while still resisting arrest. Maximov has a criminally suspended license, and court conditions to not consume alcohol or drugs. At the St. Johnsbury barracks he refused to provide a breath test, say police. He was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, violating conditions of release, unlawful mischief, and driving with a suspended license. He was held at the Northeast Regional Correction Complex until sober and is due in court on April 10.
