Police Investigate Derby Man’s Shooting
Vermont State Police are investigating after a 59-year-old Derby man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was dropped off at North Country Hospital early Sunday morning.
The investigation began at about 2:05 a.m. Aug. 23 when the wounded man arrived at the Newport hospital, according to state police.
He was treated for serious injuries before being airlifted to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. Police said his condition was stable.
Investigators have not determined where the shooting occurred.
State police said the victim and other people interviewed in connection with the case have not provided significant details about what happened, including the location where the man was shot.
Police did not identify who brought the victim to North Country Hospital or provide information about any possible suspect, motive or circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The victim’s name is being withheld while the investigation continues and authorities notify relatives.
State police are asking anyone with information that could help investigators determine what happened to contact the Derby barracks at 802-334-8881. Anonymous tips may also be submitted through the Vermont State Police website.
