State police troopers from the Derby barracks deployed spikes to halt and arrest a motorist in Charleston
State police troopers from the Derby barracks deployed spikes to halt and arrest a motorist in Charleston, ending a pursuit that began in the area of Lake Willoughby in Westmore. Stephan Tremblay, 47, of Morgan was taken into custody without incident after the spikes deflated his tires on Route 5A in Charleston. Police had received an 8:30 p.m. report of a male who was being threatening in nature, believed to be impaired, was driving recklessly about and doing burnouts in the South Beach area of Lake Willoughby. Troopers located the described truck and initiated a traffic stop. The truck failed to come to a stop and pull over, and continued traveling north on Route 5A. A second state police unit parked near Hudson Road in Charleston deployed spikes as the truck continued north on 5A, deflating its tires. Tremblay was cited to appear yesterday in court on charges of grossly negligent operation, attempting to elude, disorderly conduct, and violation of conditions of release.
