Vermont State University released a draft report outlining recommendations
Vermont State University released a draft report outlining recommendations to adjust program offerings across the newly unified five campuses. The recommendations call for discontinuing ten programs with low enrollment, consolidating 13 programs offered at multiple campuses, and relocating 11 more programs within the VTSU system. After a multi-year implementation, the result would be the reduction of 20 to 33 full-time faculty. VTSU Interim President Mike Smith released the draft recommendations, which were shaped by a months-long process involving VTSU leaders, faculty and staff, and he opened a feedback period for input to help refine the proposals with the intent to finalize them by the end of the month. Final recommendations for optimization as well as plans for administrative reductions and efficiencies, will be made by Oct. 31.
