A Burke woman was ticketed after driving across the centerline
A Burke woman was ticketed after driving across the centerline of Rt. 114 in East Burke on Wednesday afternoon, leading to a crash that involved three vehicles. Vermont State Trooper David Wicks notes that Audrey Downey, 82, was driving north on Rt. 114, near the intersection of Burke Hollow Road, about 2:30 p.m. when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane where it struck Carmen Murray, 72, of Island Pond. The impact pushed the Murray’s car into the driver’s side wheel well area of Edwin Jones, 52, of Island Pond. None of the drivers reported injuries. Trooper Wicks noted that Jones and Murray were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash; Downey was not. The ticket given to Downey was for failing to maintain her lane of traffic.
