A St. Johnsbury man allegedly beat a 27-year-old woman

A St. Johnsbury man allegedly beat a 27-year-old woman on Portland Street in St. Johnsbury on Monday night. Jeremy Bathalon, 34, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to a charge of misdemeanor domestic assault. Judge Michael R. Kainen then set conditions of release and $200 bail based on Bathalon’s flight risk. State’s Attorney Ben King told the court, “Mr. Bathalon has a number of cases that are outstanding.” “This will make the seventh one that he has. Bathalon faces a possible sentence of up to 18 months in prison and a $5,000 fine on the new charge.
