Fans of the Fairbanks Museum will have to wait a bit longer

Fans of the Fairbanks Museum, eager to explore the much-anticipated Science Annex will have to wait a bit longer as a construction delay has pushed the opening to late January or early February of 2024. The issue was with the delivery of the new addition’s elevator.  They learned within the last few weeks that the elevator wouldn’t be delivered until around December, followed by about a month of installation time. Between the holidays and the museum’s typical closure for maintenance in January, the decision was made to target early February for the grand opening and celebration.  Despite the minor setback, Kane noted other aspects of the project were continuing along well, including work to convert a portion of the museum’s basement into office and classroom space for the future home of Community College of Vermont, as well as a variety of restoration and repair projects to the parapet, stonework and roof on the original building. Kane said CCV could potentially be into their offices in the renovated basement by the end of the year.
