Lyndon Electric to Pass Credit Card Fees to Customers Starting July 1 to Offset Deficit
The Lyndon Electric Department (LED) plans to begin passing electronic payment processing fees directly to customers starting July 1st. The policy change, aimed at offsetting a projected operating deficit, would shift the cost of convenience fees to customers who choose to pay electronically. In 2024, Lyndon Electric paid more than $130,000 in processing fees tied to credit card and other electronic transactions. About half of the utility’s 6,100 customers continue to use traditional payment methods such as cash, check or bill pay.
