NEKCA To Host Third Soup’s On Fundraiser For Food Insecurity

Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA) announces its third annual Soup’s On! Empty Bowls Fundraiser, taking place on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at The Wandering Vine, 378 Railroad Street in St. Johnsbury, with two seatings at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. This special community event brings together local students, businesses, and neighbors to raise awareness of food insecurity and support NEKCA’s ongoing efforts to ensure that individuals and families throughout the Northeast Kingdom have access to nutritious food and essential resources.

Across the Northeast Kingdom, too many households are struggling to make ends meet. The rising costs of groceries, heating fuel, utilities, housing, and other everyday necessities continue to outpace household incomes, forcing families to make increasingly difficult decisions about how to stretch their limited resources. For many, including those who are working full-time, the challenge is no longer simply making ends meet but deciding which essential needs can be met and which must wait.

At NEKCA, these challenges are visible every day. Through its food shelves in St. Johnsbury, Newport, and Island Pond, NEKCA provides critical food assistance to individuals, families, older adults, and working households experiencing food insecurity. These food shelves serve as important community resources, helping ensure that neighbors have access to nutritious food when their budgets simply cannot stretch any further.
