State officials say the outdoor economy extends beyond ski resorts and lodging to bike shops, gear manufacturers, and retail stores. The highest contributor to Vermont’s outdoor sector in 2023 was snow activities like skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, and snowshoeing.
