The Select Board on Monday heard calls to improve the condition of the municipal pound. Officials from the Lyndonville Police Department reported that the state of the pound was unacceptable and needed urgent attention. Selectman Dan Renaudette, who is also an LPD officer, shared his experience after placing two dogs in the kennel on Sunday. He found the conditions to be unsanitary, with the floors covered in significant amounts of feces and urine. Cindy Cady, Lyndon’s animal control officer, was not present at Monday’s meeting. Cady had previously led fundraising efforts to build the current eight-kennel dog pound, which opened behind the Lyndonville Agway in March 2006. She is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the facility. However, in 2022, she faced criticism for not being available during the day to handle animal complaints and manage the pound due to her full-time job.
