The Shane Copp Annual Youth Fishing Day is set for May 6
The Shane Copp Annual Youth Fishing Day is set for May 6 from 8 a.m.-noon at the NorthWoods Stewardship Center Pond at 154 Leadership Drive in East Charleston. Renamed in memory of outdoorsman and community member Shane Copp, the event aims to promote fishing as a family activity and introduce young people to the joys of the natural world. Thanks to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the NorthWoods pond will be stocked with brook trout and brown trout, so youth anglers can try their luck in catching and keeping up to two fish. Bait will be provided; anglers should bring their own pole and barbless hooks. Let’s Go Fishing instructors will share tips and techniques. The fishing is for the kids, but parent supervision is required, and participation is encouraged. For more information and to register, visit northwoodscenter.org.
