This season’s big snowfall has ski resorts simultaneously buzzing and cautious. With the influx of more skiers and riders come more inexperienced ones, especially kids. Resorts say they’ve seen an uptick in young trailblazers venturing into the woods and getting caught in depressed tree-wells which can spell serious danger. Sugarbush Ski Patrol Director Chad Borofsky says they have conducted 10 rescue operations in recent weeks. It’s important to make a plan with friends and family, stay in groups of three when skiing in the woods and share your location with your friends in case you run into trouble so rescue crews can find you if needed.
