Vermont Drug Task Force Warrant Yields Narcotics and Pistol in Troy
The Vermont Drug Task Force executed a search warrant in the culmination of a months long investigation into cocaine and fentanyl distribution from a residence at 126 Railroad Street, Troy, on Tuesday. The resident involved in the case was Roger Pion, 47, of North Troy. Pion was at Caledonian Superior Court Wednesday for a flash arraignment on charges of felony cocaine sale and a misdemeanor violation of an extreme risk protection order violation. Pion made national headlines in 2012 when he drove over several police cruisers with a farm tractor over charges he had received a month prior for marijuana possession and resisting arrest. Two years later, the courts determined that Pion was incompetent when he crushed the police cruisers and could not be held responsible for the offenses. Recently, The Vermont Drug Task Force allegedly recorded Pion selling drugs to another individual, according to their report. A search warrant was then executed at Pion’s residence. Pion was not located at the residence at the time, but Troopers located cocaine base, narcotics proceeds, and a pistol. On Wednesday, Orleans County State Attorney Farzana Leyva demanded bail of $50,000. Pion was given $5,000 bail by Caledonia County Judge Michael R. Kainen, pending review by Orleans County Judge Rory Thibault.
