Vermont State Police are streamlining their recruitment process to become a trooper

Facing ongoing workforce challenges, the Vermont State Police are streamlining their recruitment process to become a trooper. A new recruitment initiative announced Wednesday includes a “pop-up” test site in Williston next month. They say anyone can show up without an appointment at 10 a.m. on Nov. 9 at the Vermont State Police barracks in Williston and take the physical fitness test. Officials are also pointing out that they take applicants with or without college degrees and that a written test is currently not required. The next VSP three-week basic training program at the Vermont Police Academy begins on Jan. 13 and is followed by the full academy on Feb. 3.
