Vermont’s moose hunting season is fast approaching

Vermont’s moose hunting season is fast approaching with applications due by June 21. The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board is issuing 80 either-sex and 100 antlerless moose hunting permits this year, aiming to curb the effects of winter ticks on the local moose population. The lottery for permit applications costs $10 for residents and $25 for nonresidents. Applicants can learn more about moose research, apply for the lottery online, and read up on the state’s 2023 Moose Research Recommendation. The hunt will take place in the northeast corner of Vermont.
