St Johnsbury Land Rover Crash Search for Runaway Driver

ST. JOHNSBURY — Multiple law enforcement officers searched the area near a crashed Land Rover on Sunday afternoon for the driver who ran from the scene. The vehicle went off-road above the residence of Brendan Boardman at 1023 Concord Ave. late in the afternoon and destroyed a speed limit sign and Boardman’s mailbox. After a brief return to the pavement, the Rover traveled back onto Boardman’s property, leaving deep ruts in the lawn, and crashed into some small trees before coming to rest in the driveway at 997 Concord Ave.  Boardman said he was inside his residence and heard the crash. When he went outside, he saw a man running down Concord Avenue. Since the crash occurred outside the village, Vermont State Police responded, and with the driver on the loose assistance with the search was given by St. Johnsbury Police and the Caledonia County Sheriff’s Department. The vehicle had a New Hampshire registration. Troopers on the scene said they were not ready to share additional details, but the information would be released later on Sunday. There was no reason to suspect the driver was a danger to the public, said Trooper Mark Pohlman. As of press time, no further information had been provided and the driver had not been apprehended.
