Homeless people are living in tents along the bike path that connects downtown St. Johnsbury to the Lamolle Valley Rail Trail and there is trash everywhere. Police said there’s a lot of needles and feces in the area. Some tents are up, and some of them were just taken away, but they left the trash behind. “We told the people they have to leave,” said Police Captain Jason Gray. “We went down before and gave them notices to be out by March 13. A month ago.” But people are still living there. It’s private property, mostly owned by Green Mountain Power. “They asked that we issue notices to the folks that are camping out down there – that they need to vacate. Some of them did, some new people have come along, and so what we’ve done for the next step is we’ve reached out to our legal department to make sure that we’re following correct process and we’ll work on how to actually get those people removed.” said Gray.
