A new survey seeks to gauge public interest

A new survey seeks to gauge public interest in opening town roads to all-terrain vehicles (ATVs).  A group of residents has developed a one-page survey to measure community opinion. Surveys can be picked up and dropped off at Mike’s Gas or the East Burke Market, with a deadline of Jan. 31. They can also be submitted to the Town Clerk’s office. The Select Board will discuss the results on Feb. 3. If there is sufficient public support for the proposal, the Select Board could revise the town’s ATV ordinance, which currently prohibits ATV road access. The board has the authority to specify where, when, and how ATVs can operate. For example, the survey asks whether residents would prefer that ATV access be restricted to either East or West Burke.
